1/2/2012, Orlando, FL. After a 9-3 regular season, #9 NU was matched against The Ol' Ball Coach and his #20 South Carolina Gamecocks in the Capital One Bowl. After the Huskers jumped out to an early 13-9 lead, South Carolina's Connor Shaw connected on a Hail Mary for a TD to end the first half and take a 16-13 lead into the locker room. The momentum swung on that play and NU never got it back in the 2nd half giving Spurrier his first win against the Huskers with a final score of 30-13.
